Zimbabwe in Mistrustful Political Atmosphere

Tesnsion is mounting in the whole of Zimbabwe in the wake of the pole results held recently, and aspirations are running high among opposition supporters of the defeat of the reigning President Robert Mugabe with the announcements of the Electoral Commission of the country. However there has also been a strange sense of suspicion among the countrymen over the mode of announcement since in previous elections partial results have been announced within hours of voting ending. This was also advocated by Noel Kututwa, chairman of the network that includes 38 civic, church and other groups, who said, “Clearly the delay is fueling speculation that something might be going on”.

What is most fearful is that these delays result to a great number of social and political strifes resulting into violent clashes. The same happened in Kenya where the leery elections led to a spontaneous explosion of violence claming more than 1,000 lives.
